Our Labor Day adventure started a little earlier for Lynn and Mom, who hit the road on Wednesday and headed north to Ringgold, Georgia. They settled in at Scenic City RV Campground, giving them a couple of days to relax and get a head start on the long holiday weekend.
Unfortunately, somebody still had to work! I finished up the week before heading north after work on Friday to meet them in Ringgold. By Friday evening, the three of us were finally together, the workweek was behind us, and Mountains, Memories & Miles could officially begin.
Saturday morning, we packed things up and pointed the RV toward Dahlonega. With its mountain-town atmosphere and long history tied to Georgia's gold rush, Dahlonega made a great first stop as we worked our way farther into the North Georgia mountains. While there, we toured one of the area's historic gold mines, heading underground for a glimpse into the region's mining past and a very different kind of sightseeing experience.
After exploring Dahlonega, we got back on the road and continued toward Helen. The drive took us farther into the mountains, where winding roads, changing elevations, and North Georgia scenery became as much a part of the adventure as the destinations themselves.
Our home base for this part of the trip was Yonah Mountain Campground, just outside Helen. We got the RV settled in and prepared to spend the rest of the Labor Day weekend exploring the area.
It was shaping up to be exactly the kind of trip we enjoy—no need to rush from one attraction to another, just a few days on the road together, discovering new places and enjoying whatever we found along the way.
Sometimes the best adventures aren't about how far you travel. They're about the people you're traveling with, the places you discover along the way, and the memories you bring home.
Mountains. Memories. Miles. And another chapter in a life that rocks.
