Lynn’s notes
When we are out exploring near creeks or spending a few quiet days camped along a rocky riverbed, having an activity like gold prospecting adds a whole new layer of fun to our trips. This 18-piece kit completely eliminates the guesswork because it includes everything you need right out of the box, even a user manual to walk you through the steps.
The star of the kit is the 27.5-inch folding sluice box. It is made from a lightweight 6000-series aluminum alloy that holds up well against rocks and rust, and it uses angled riffles, mesh, miner’s moss, and carpet matting to help trap fine gold as water flows through. Best of all, it collapses down small enough to slide straight into the included drawstring bag, making it light and practical to hike with.
You also get two gold pans, two classifier screens, a paydirt scoop, a separating magnet, magnifier tweezers, three snuffer bottles, pipettes, and storage vials for keeping your finds. It is a well-rounded, easy-to-carry package that makes trying your hand at panning simple and approachable.
